Since 1996,

RMO International has:

  • Provided 25,000 weeks (500 years) of RMO cover
  • Employed over 3,500 Doctors on medium & long-term contracts
  • Provided RMO services to over 120 different private hospitals

What qualifications / skills does an RMO need?

Usually in the evenings and weekends, the RMO is the only doctor on site and deals with any problems in the ward, including emergencies. There are no ITU or emergency units so most of the work is routine in the hospitals we cover, but the RMO leads the resuscitation team in the very rare event of a cardiac arrest (for which ALS/EPLS training will be arranged) under the instructions of admitting consultants. RMO work may offer opportunities to study whilst earning an excellent salary. RMO work has become the most popular way of earning a living in the UK whilst at the same time gaining first hand experience of our health system.

Mandatory requirements are:

Full GMC registration or eligibility of this / EU Nationality

Current ALS and EPLS accreditation, training and certification for this can be arranged

Recent experience in resuscitation, cannulation, blood taking, ECGs and urinary catheterisation

Recent surgical or emergency room experience, or anaesthetics / ITU experience would be advantageous

Fluent spoken and written English - being confident and polite with the ability to gain the respect and trust of your colleagues and patients

Please note:

As you will be taking blood and inserting cannulas daily in the role of RMO, cannulation skills will be tested and confirmed in a clinical setting prior to your commencing work as an RMO. It is very important that you practise inserting cannulas regularly in your current post to ensure you are as competent as possible in this area. If you are not used to this procedure or do not perform it regularly you will not be suitable for the role. Please contact us for further information.
