What qualifications / skills does an RMO need?
Usually in the evenings, Saturday afternoons, and Sundays, the RMO is the only doctor on site and must be confident in dealing with clinical emergencies on behalf of admitting consultants. RMO work may offer opportunities to study whilst earning a reasonable salary. RMO work has become the most popular way of earning a living in the UK whilst at the same time gaining first hand experience of our health system.
Mandatory requirements are:
Full GMC registration;
Current ALS and EPLS accreditation.
Recent experience in resuscitation, cannulation, blood taking, ECGs, urinary catheterisation and pharmacy procedures.
Fluent spoken and competent written English.
